We didn’t get to eat on that Friday night. We arrived at the campsite later than we hoped thanks to me leaving work late because we’re so understaffed it hurts. By the time we had set up tent and tarp we couldn’t get a fire going and my love was so tired, we’d have to cook in the dark and then do dishes. We just called it a night and went to bed hungry.

When I awoke on the Saturday I got to walk the grounds for a second as I went to use the restroom. It was a functioning toilet which I found strange. Our campsite was nice, two tree clusters made an invisible wall in the middle of our camp, we used it to our advantage and raised our tarp between the trees then put the tent beneath.

Perhaps going to be hungry was for the best, the breakfast I made was so abysmal. The chewiest steak the world’s ever seen. After washing our dishes we went to the discover center. What a highlight!!! One of my favourite parts of the trip. There were three scavenger hunts to do each with varying difficulty, we did all three and received stickers as a reward for our investigation. Afterwards we made our way to the lake where others were cliff jumping, I say cliff, it was a very small jump. We however made our way down to the lake and settled for a light hop into the water. F-r-e-e-z-i-n-g. Holy shit, I don’t know the last time I’ve been in water so frigid. The view was wonderful tho!

After we had our fill of swimming we went back to camp in hopes of filling our bellies with maggi noodles. Our dreams would be rained and hailed and thunder stormed on before we could get something in our stomachs. I was incredibly blue. I was not used to the rain during camping, it made me sad, like time was wasted. Tania was a veteran of the rain, she had a smile on her face that beat back the blues a decent bit. Still, a sinking feeling dwelled within.

We did eventually eat, it was Maggie noodles and hot dogs for lunch. Tania’s fire she had built before the storm would weather it, even lasting into the night. We had s’mores as the sun set and turned in for the night.

We ate a little in the morning then packed up before our departure time of 2! We took a hike where the lighthouse was and then said goodbye to Killbear. I napped in the car while she drove, we stopped off at a Costco to eat and then it was my turn to take us home. We yapped about different horror stories all the way home.

Despite me not used to the rain. I am very glad to have gone camping especially with Tania.
