The morning was a slow start, I waited in my bed for my family to come back. Hours passed before the finally got there, by that point I was in a rush, I got my Barong on, barely fitting, and forgot to grab my suit to change into.
Oh my days, why does Vancouver have no highways??? The stop and go of red light green light became a droning pain. What could’ve been a 15 minute drive because an hour long game of bumper cars.
We finally made it to the venue and got in our seats. Kuya Alvin made it to the alter and he couldn’t contain his joy, it poured from his face in tears. My mom and I couldn’t help ourselves, we saw him and followed. My eyes were never dry, not during the entire ceremony. The procession walked the aisle, and finally my cousin, my sister, one of my greatest friends and one of three people I live for.
It was so much more than- I. I am honoured to be in her life, I am blessed to see her happy. She walked the aisle and joined Kuya Alvin. My eyes were never dry.
The ceremony was backdropped by the B.C mountains and a large lake. The sky was blue, the air was warm. Everything was perfect. My sister is married. I may never be so happy as right now.

now- guys- listen… is it really incest if there’s no blood relations AYYY AYY AYYY!!! CHIIILLLLL VRO CHILL-!! My cousins, cousins. Whom I’ve never met. Professional models, tall fine and thin. Green dresses, dark hair, dark skin. Baddies.
My Ninang sat beside me to inform me of them, to put pressure on me, she wants to see the 2nd born marry too, to see her godson at the alter. I fear to let her down, but today was not a day for it. Today I celebrated my sister and her husband in all their glory!!
I partied, I danced, I took pictures, I drank. Nico, Robert and I saw Bri for the first time in… YEARS??? Crazy. She’s got a partner and graduated studying film. She now works in Winnipeg working of films. Wild. Wish we got a good pic with her, the four of us.
The night went on, Nico and Ronic gone. Only Bri and I remained. Tito Justin made sure drank my water. We had a few more dances and it was over. I hugged my Kuya Alvin, my Ate Nene Darielle, and went home.
I woke up the next morning without a headache.
