July 19th, 2025 - Superman 4 // “Volunteering”

I woke up, showered and headed to volunteer. Allegedly late though I’m unsure how much they really needed me. I wasn’t cooking I was mostly running and prepping.

Roy texted me around mid day he had purchased tickets for superman, i thanked everyone for having me and drove home. I popped some popcorn and put it into my mostly eaten cineplex popcorn bag, I would just put butter on in the theatre. I don’t know where my time went but I ended up at the theatre just in time. Though there was another ten minutes of previews.

The movie was amazing, I cried at all my usual moments. I came out joyous. From there Roy and I went to Kinto ramen for some food, I grabbed spicy garlic pork he grabbed Pork Shoya. Good food, I only wish it was cheaper.

He took me to the Korean supermarket next door and I picked up the little fish shaped cakes, and some matcha ice cream. Then the unexpected happened, Roy had invited me over. I had wanted to go to his place for some time, especially when he had brought of his new tv. I thought of saying no, of giving a rain check; after all it was mid afternoon and I kind of just wanted to relax at home. Maybe play exp33.

Curiosity took the better of me and I was sitting on Roy’s couch. We showed each other potential Hinge matches and watched Top Gun Maverick. He complained about Tom Cruise’s ego, something I’ve ever really given any mind. Though it was blazingly obvious after Roy showed me what he was talking about.

The night was fun, it reminded me of my younger youth where I would just shoot the shit at a friends house, no plans, no anything just pure unadulterated company. It was nice.

I left after 12 and got home pretty late too. Opting to take a brief nap before getting home rather than crash and die.

The nap had me wired, I stayed up another 3 hours playing Lego Fortnite. And I stayed Sweetpea.

I read!!! Whenever I had time during the cooking I skimmed through the pages of Dan Watters Nightwing. The first volume is- it’s good.

I love a good start to a book. We follow in the wake of Heartless and Blockbusters deaths. The Blüd has fallen into a gang war. Thankfully the leaders of all the factions have come to a truce, at least they were supposed to. Nightwing comes in ready to bash heads and bring baddies to justice as a bomb goes off killing all the heads of the criminal empires.

BLüdhaven erupts into street violence as the gangs blame each other for the deaths of their leaders. In reality the blame falls to a military weapons company who have come to Bludhaven to??? Unsure so far but they’re causing a lot of trouble.

They’re strong arming Melinda Grayson-Lin into taking their side over her brothers. Theyre killing children (in the gangs), they’re using animals as weapons. Nightwing goes around saving two of the gang factions. He is over worked. He nearly dies. In his half dead state he is reacquainted with an old enemy.

I forgot the name of the guy, but the Cirque De Sin needs a ringleader and whom better than the greatest acrobat alive. Nightwing wants no part in it but we find that with every move that the military company makes the more Nightwing falls into that role.

Very cool stuff, also! Dexter Soy is a great artist. I remember reading Red Hood and wanting Dex to illustrate Nightwing. I manifested this. And he’s Pinoy!!

Although he really really wants to push his Nightwing design. I already know he puts it in. I love his art, but we went almost a decade without fingerstripes. I’d hate to see it go for another decade. Hopefully it’s just like an armoured suit or something.
